Taproom Manager

Taproom Manager

The Taproom Manager is responsible for assisting in overseeing taproom operations including, but not limited to supervising taproom staff, assisting with employee hiring, training, daily maintenance of the taproom and brewery, and assisting the GM with special events. They are responsible for supporting and creating a strong team culture and improving policies and procedures as needed to continually run day-to-day operations and exceed guest expectations. They are expected to uphold the company culture at all times, and you are the main point of contact for employees and customers when the GM or other senior leadership is unavailable. As a member of management, this person will actively contribute to the sustainable growth of our community while leading our team members with positivity and support.

This position will require evening, weekend, and special event and holiday availability.

Job Responsibilities

Operational

  • Ensure a smooth front-of-house operation at all times, and step in to lead and assist staff as necessary during busy, peak times which includes serving guests and helping set up, breakdown, and cleaning tasks 
  • Opening and closing the taproom and managing EOD service close-out, Square reports, and cash drawers
  • Provide excellent, warm, and welcoming customer service and ensure taproom associates are executing a high level of service to customers 
  • Collect, evaluate, and respond to guest feedback as needed
  • Assist in establishing systems/ policies /procedures contributing to the growth and profitability within the taproom 
  • Assist in recruiting new bar staff and execute onboarding procedures
  • Ensure staff is completing all standard operating procedures for opening and closing
  • Maintain a fair and safe work environment free of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
  • Meet regularly with the Management Team to foster growth within the taproom environment
  • Opens & Closes taproom 
  • Schedule and execute additional cleaning work to ensure taproom upkeep is consistent during opening shifts
  • Assist with the execution of rentals or events in collaboration with the GM or when the GM is not on-site 
  • Monthly inventory management for all FOH items 
  • Perform daily pre-shift with taproom employees 
  • Assist with and execute regular staff trainings and tastings 
  • Assist with creating and maintaining SOP’s  
  • Scheduling of taproom staff 

Administrative 

  • Monthly inventory with Ohanafy and Square 
  • Answer emails 
  • Answer phone calls 
  • Assist with scheduling maintenance repairs 

Additional Responsibilities

Food Trucks & Programing 

  • Assist in the management of scheduling food truck vendors, musicians, and additional programming and help keep the calendar up to date 
  • Help ensure that third-party vendors are respecting our space and doing a thorough job of cleaning up after themselves
  • Collect COIs and Health Department documents from all vendors and store in database 

Stock Control & Taproom Organization/Maintenance:

  • Assist in ordering cleaning supplies and miscellaneous items needed in the taproom
  • Monitor inventory
  • Provide GM with a weekly order list 

Packaging and BOH Duties 

  • Assist with packaging as needed 
  • Help assist with ensuring a safe and clean facility including office, brewery, and outside spaces 

Required Qualifications

  • A  minimum of 1 year of hospitality management experience 
  • Passionate about hospitality and cultivating an inclusive taproom experience
  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation 
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds 
  • Ability to push, pull, and move full kegs (approximately 160 pounds) with assistance
  • Ability to work flexible days and hours
  • Ability to be resourceful and problem-solving
  • Ability to be solutions-oriented and think proactively to diffuse potential problems
  • Creative, seeking new ideas and approaches to help Lasting Joy Brewery grow as a brand
  • Highly organized; developed systems for staffing, taproom upkeep, inventory tracking, etc.
